  • Hello Kamal

Thanks very much for your encouragement of the 'warriors' or was it 'worriers'? Both are equally applicable!

Whether this class have the stamina and determination to work independently in the period AFTER the course and BEFORE the exam remains to be seen.

It is very kind of you to endorse my IELTS advice and recommendations so positively :) !!

I will answer your third comment separately. Also please try to post NEW MESSAGES, Kamal, as comments on comments can get lost.

Stand by for a further comment.

    Tony

ps There's no reason why I-drive members can't answer those 10 questions via the weblog.

  • As for the comparison of Dr Rashid and Roy, comparisons are 'invidious' and I'm giving a subjective assessment, so here goes:

    - both are excellent, fluent writers who scored band 8.0 on the academic version.

    - if you insist, I would say that the writing of Dr Rashid is more logical and analytical in its approach and style. Roy has a more poetical and colourful turn of phrase. It is not appropriate for me to go into more detail, but both Dr Rashid and Roy write impressively and have had the kindness and courage to post their work on the weblog.

Both have set a wonderful example to their peers.

  • Well, Dr Rashid!

I think Roy's imaginative use of language comes from his being a voracious reader and having this creative streak that is not realised in his humdrum workaday job in Abu Dhabi.

You have this 'clinical' approach to analysing life and commenting on 'big' questions in this rational, scientific and measured way. A leopard is a leopard - the spots cannot be changed. However we can camouflage ourselves and pretend to be something different.

I think we thrive on diversity and appreciate the different qualities that two master craftmen - you and Roy bring to your writing.

It was interesting for me that neither of you was ever totally satisfied with what you wrote, both of you seem to be perfectionists. This means that will probably want to take the respective strengths that you both have - Roy would like to be more rational and you would like to be more poetical.

We have benefitted from your thoroughness and kindness in posting your work on the weblogs.

    Bye for now

    Tony
